Corporate awards nights and celebration events
Celebrating 25 Years of Events
Awards nights, recognition evenings, long-service and retirement celebrations, company anniversaries, and the party that follows a big win - "we've just been named best in our industry, let's mark it properly." We design and deliver these end-to-end across the M4 corridor, Cheltenham, Oxford and west London: the venue, the staging, the sound and light, the dinner, the entertainment and the running of the night itself.

The room knows each other
Here's what makes an internal awards night different from every other event format, including the industry awards it superficially resembles. At an industry ceremony, the audience is strangers in a hotel ballroom. At yours, everyone in the room works together. The winner walks up past their own team. The applause is from people who know exactly what the work took. And the people who don't win tonight will be back at their desks with the people who did on Monday morning.
That changes the design brief entirely. The event has to land for the whole room, not just the names on the trophies. Get it right and the night says something the company can't say in an all-hands: we notice, and we celebrate people here. Get it wrong - a night that drags, winners rushed through, a room that feels like an audience rather than a company - and recognition curdles into obligation.
So we design these events around the room first and the stage second. That's the whole philosophy.
The moments that decide the night
A celebration evening is won or lost in a handful of engineered moments, and most of them are seconds long.
The walk-up. Thirty seconds per winner - name read well, a clear route to the stage, light in the right place, music that lifts rather than smothers, and a photographer already in position. Multiply it by twenty awards and the difference between crisp and shambolic is the difference between a show and a queue.
The pacing. Awards between courses, not after them. Speeches with a length the speaker agreed to in advance. A running order with slack hidden inside it, because someone will cry, and someone else will do ten minutes of thank-yous.
The toast. For anniversaries, retirements and long-service moments, one well-built minute - the right person speaking, the room standing, glasses actually charged - outperforms any amount of production budget around it.
The after. The moment the formalities end, the night becomes a party, and the transition has to be built - lighting change, music up, bar open, dance floor or space to gather. The celebration people remember mostly happens here.
Occasions we build
Recognition and awards nights for teams, departments or the whole company. Long-service and retirement celebrations. Company anniversaries and milestone years. Deal, result and award-win celebrations - the party that marks something the business just achieved. Trophies, engraving and winner staging we can arrange as part of the build.
One boundary worth stating: the recognition itself is yours. Who wins, how nominations and selection work, what the awards are called - that sits with your HR, Comms or leadership team, and it should. We build the setting, the facilities, the tech and the night that does your decisions justice.
Where we handle
Venue finding across our patch - ballrooms, country houses, characterful private-hire spaces, and the unusual venues that make an anniversary feel like an occasion rather than a booking. Staging, sound, lighting and screens sized to the room. Dinner and dietaries.
Entertainment sourcing - bands, DJs, comperes, MCs and acts, booked to fit the audience rather than the budget line. Photography arrangements, table plans, guest management, and a show-caller running the night so whoever organised it gets to be in the room, not behind it.
If the occasion is a Christmas party, that lives with our themed parties service. If it's a summer all-company day, see summer socials [LINK]. And if the celebration is best delivered as a reward away day or overnight, our away days page covers that format [LINK].

Our client Macfarlane Packaging wanted to celebrate the style and use its annual event for a new award ceremony. The company had the Hollywood Stars theme night in mind and brought it to life with red carpet treatment and starlit walls. We added additional Hollywood-style table centres, blacked-out chair covers, and Hollywood backdrop props. We complemented this event with a games area and a silent disco.
How we deliver awards and celebrations
Our process runs the same five stages on every project

A proper catch-up afterwards
On awards and celebration briefs, the design phase includes the running order as a first-class deliverable - who speaks, for how long, in what order, and where the night turns from ceremony into party. Simon founded Planet Pursuits in 2001 and personally leads the first chat on every brief.
What experience tells us about award ceremonies and celebrations
The the best advice we could give our clients is: understand your audience. Your event involves the whole team, and whilst you are picking out individuals and acknowledging them, the event should be an overall celebration of success.
Giving a theme or creating an atmosphere of success helps unite the entire team. This can be evenly achieved with additional props, table centres, and backdrops. It also gets everybody in the party mood.
Our team have been running awards ceremonies and celebrations for over 25 years, so tap into our knowledge bank. As a bespoke event management company, we are often creating unique ways to celebrate success for the entire team, so give us a call.
Questions about awards, ceremonies, and celebrations
How long does a Celebrations event last?
Forty-five minutes of actual ceremony is the ceiling before a room of colleagues stops being an audience - and that's shorter than most first drafts. It usually means grouping awards into two or three blocks between courses rather than one long run. If you have more than fifteen awards, the design conversation is about consolidation and pacing, and we'll have it honestly.
Can you arrange trophies and engravings?
Yes - trophies, engraving, certificates and winner staging can all sit inside the build. The award names, categories and winners are yours; we make sure what's handed over on stage looks and feels worth winning.
Can you arrange the entertainment at Compere or MC to manage the event?
Yes. Bands, DJs, acts, comperes and MCs, sourced and booked to fit the room - a two-hundred-person recognition night and a thirty-person retirement dinner need very different evenings. If you have someone in mind, we'll contract and manage them; if not, we'll bring options.
We have just won a major industry award - how long do you need to plan an event for us to celebrate?
Four to six weeks, venue availability permitting, for a quality celebration of up to a couple of hundred people - faster than most formats, because the venue and the mood do more of the work. The momentum is worth catching: a win celebrated three months later is an anniversary, not a celebration.
Can partners and families be invited?
Yes, and for retirements and long-service events they often should be - the recognition lands differently when the people who lived the career alongside someone are in the room. It changes catering, timings and content, so it's a first-conversation question rather than a late add.
What's the winning formula for a great awards ceremony event?
It all starts with a great venue, and we always suggest wrapping it around a theme, but more importantly, having a great MC to run your event will ensure it runs smoothly and on time. We often suggest that awards are given between courses of a dinner and then the big final award towards the end. This is a perfect schedule for any awards or celebrations event. We always recommend ending the night with a disco, party atmosphere, or a fireworks display.
Can we combine a summer social or festival and awards?
Absolutely, you can. It works perfectly, particularly if it's within the company culture to celebrate success throughout the year and not just on one occasion. Festivals work well where you can stop the music and have a session just celebrating success and calling individuals to the stage in that informal festival style atmosphere.
