The team in action
How the team is built
Planet Pursuits runs a core team out of Swindon and London covering event design, project management and logistics, extended by a trusted crew of regular freelancers for on-site delivery at scale. Most of our regular crew have worked our events for years - the build team that rigs a festival in a field in August is the same one that dressed the Christmas party in December.
Cindy Lang, Director of Events
The core team
Simon Maddison, Director
Role: Founder and Director of Planet Pursuits, with over 25 years of event experience specialising in designing bespoke events and an extensive knowledge of creating unique experiential team building events. Simon's military credentials speak for themselves, with over twelve years in the Royal Navy as a bomb disposal diver and commander of a minor war vessel. Simon started Planet Pursuits back in 2001, initially as a team building company, which quickly expanded into company fund days, conferences, and theme parties, which they now present under the umbrella of event management services.

Cindy Laing, Director of Events
Role: Director of Events for over 12 years. Cindy has extensive knowledge in the production, delivery and logistics of events throughout the UK. Cindy has specialised over the years in presenting a variety of company fun days and festivals, as well as innovative theme parties. Before Planet Pursuits, Cindy had her own event company offering a bespoke event service.

Miffy Maddison, Head of Business Development and Marketing
Role: Head of Marketing and Business Development. Miffy joined the company in 2024 and immediately raised its profile with her ambitious marketing and business development strategies. Miffy can also be seen out on events, building her knowledge base, which she quickly acquired. Miffy has excellent communication skills and first class client relationships skills.
Neil Laing, Lead Event Manager and Logistics
Role: Lead Event Manager, logistics and set designer. Neil has a multi-role function within Planet Pursuits, and whilst being a first-class event manager, he is also superb at event logistics and building bespoke event sets for theme parties. Neil came to Planet Pursuits with an extensive background of head chef roles within major organisations and private schools.

The Crew
Roles: To keep our operations smooth and cost effective, we outsource a number of roles to first-class event managers, Industry suppliers or contractors who know this industry inside and out. Where possible, one of our lead event managers, including Simon, Cindy or Neil, will personally event manager your event. Our Event Manager's role is to plan, execute and deliver your vision whilst coordinating all suppliers and contractors. Our ambition has always been to 'be the best, not the biggest' which has served us well for the last 25 years.
Kit & logistics
Behind every event is the team who look after the kit that makes it work - stretch tents, staging, bars, lighting, audio, power, props and the Christmas store. They run pre-event coordination and distribution, so what arrives on site is checked, complete and in build order.

Alongside the awards, Planet Pursuits is SafeContractor accredited, with method statements and risk assessments produced for every event.
Meet us in person
Four times a year we host clients and prospective clients at a venue or event worth the trip. Our seasonal events are Henley Regatta, the Cartier International Polo and Holland & Holland Charity Shooting Day in Oct and March. It’s the easiest way to meet the team, talk to existing clients, and judge whether we’re the right fit before there’s a brief on the table.
Work with the team
As an event company, we are always looking for seasonal staff plus experienced event managers to help us during the busy periods, particularly during summer (May to July) and over Christmas and New Year.
