Outdoor team building solutions that will truly inspire you teams
Who doesn't want to get outside for a team build when the weather is perfect? Outdoor team-building activities do require venues and hotels to have the space to hold the activity. Fortunately, we have a range of outdoor activities that suit all sizes of groups and venues.
We don't just find the venue for you, we run the activities with our own kit and crew, and we build in wet weather contingency plans from the first conversation. Whether you're looking for a fun team activity day or a more serious experiential team-building event with real development objectives, our team has the experience and know-how to deliver.

Where team building outgrows the room or the season dictates
Some event days simply need a ground that a hundred people cannot rotate through zones in a function suite. There is an energy to being outside together that no plenary space can reproduce - teams behave differently in open space, and both the delegates and company reap the benefits.
Plenty of outdoor providers are tied to one venue or one city. We are not. The event travels to the right ground for your group, which means the ground is chosen for the day rather than the day squeezed onto the ground.
Experience tells us that even during an indoor-driven conference, teams benefit extensively from a 1- to 2-hour period outside.
The grounds we build on to deliver lasting results
Unlike other event agencies, we are not constrained by size or imagination and we are not peddling one product. We are driven by innovative thought and client delivery. Here's a selection of venues we've used in the past that really work for delivering lasting results.
-
Hotel lawns and grounds - the classic shape: activity outside, food and wind-down inside the same venue. Well suited to more intimate activities like The Bridge, low-impact country pursuits, like laser lays or archey and team challenges like Going for Gold.
-
Country estates and parkland - space for the biggest formats, and a setting that makes the day feel like an occasion. These locations make a perfect setting for multi-activity days, driving days, and team-building activities like Crystal CHallenge
-
Your own site - car parks, sports fields and grounds convert better than most companies expect, and nobody travels. Of course, we would need to site visit, but activities such as Quantum Challenge and The Bridge work well.
-
Marquees and stretch tents - when the day needs a base, a stage or a dry option on site. If you're at the start or the end of the summer season, and need wet weather contingency cover, we can then start to consider most of our indoor team-building solutions.
-
Tell us the team - size, mix, and what the day is for - and we will tell you which format fits and why. If the answer is honestly an indoor day, we will say that too.
Popular outdoor team-building actvities
At your office, or we'll find you a venue!
Indoor is the one format that works where your team already is. We regularly build events in company meeting rooms, canteens and atriums - the practical needs are a clear floor area, tables we can move, and an hour of set-up access. Guests rate office events highly for a simple reason: no travel.
If your space will not take it, or you want the day away from work, we find and contract the room across our patch - hotels, function rooms and characterful private-hire spaces - as part of the job.
For events further afield, our venue finding service covers it.
From twenty people to two hundred and more
The right outdoor format follows group size before anything else:
-
Small groups - close-quarters challenges where everyone is in every task. See The Bridge and Wild Cooking Challenge or ask about challenges like Spy Games and Survival Worskshop
-
Mid-size groups - rotation days with teams moving between zoned activities. See Multi-activity or Challenge 60 and The Race
-
Large groups - big competitive formats with zones, scoring and staged moments across the site. Ask about our School Sports Day and Quantum Challenge or Going For Gold
If the brief is a whole-company summer day with families or entertainment, that is bigger than team building - see festivals and fun days. If the group would honestly do better in a room, we will say so: see indoor team building
The wet plan, designed in.
Every outdoor day we build carries its weather answer from day one: a covered option on or beside the site, formats that convert without losing the competition, and a go or no-go point agreed with you in advance. British weather is a planning fact, not a risk you accept.
How team building quotes comes together
-
The brief - Group size, team mix, what the day needs to achieve, budget range. One short call covers it.
-
The venue - We find and contract one across our patch, or build the day at your offices or conference venue.
-
The design - Activity, timings, catering and space planned as one running order.
-
The day - Our crew set up, run the activity, keep the energy up and pack down. You take part.
-
Afterwards - A quick debrief on what landed, useful if the day is one of a series.
Outdoor team building FAQ's
As if it rains on the day?
The day goes ahead, because the wet plan was built when the day was. Depending on the ground, that means a covered space beside the activity area, a marquee base, or formats that convert to sheltered versions without losing the scoring. You will know the plan, and the go or no-go point, before you confirm the date.
How far in advance should we book our team building day?
Book eight weeks or more ahead for May to September - the outdoor season is short and the best grounds and mid-week go first. April and October dates are quieter, cheaper and usually still workable with the right formats. The earlier the conversation, the better the ground we can get you.
How far ahead should we book an indoor team-building event?
Book four to six weeks ahead for most winter dates, but treat November and December differently - indoor spaces compete with Christmas parties for the same rooms, so those dates need eight weeks or more. Don't assume January to March is quiet as this is often conference season and year end wrap up. Venue choice is widest and the team benefit lands when morale needs it most.
Can you run outdoor team building at our site?
Yes, if there is usable open space - a sports field, a large car park or grounds. We visit first, check access, surface and power, and design around what is there. Site days remove travel for the whole team, which is often the deciding factor.
The cost of an outdoor team-building event?
Four things: the ground (your site costs nothing, hired grounds vary), the scale of the build (a rotation day carries more kit and crew than a single challenge), catering, and any covered structure the weather plan needs. Group size scales better than most expect. Numbers and a date on the first call get you a firm range the same week.
We are only a small team of 30 to 50. What event would you suggest?
Great question! If you have the budget, I'd suggest a multi-activity day, where, in teams of eight, you can rotate around four to six activities.
These could include:
-
some kind of driving, like power turn buggies, quads, argo cats etc
-
shooting activities, like clays or laser clays
-
a combat activity, like combat archery or axe throwing
-
a country pursuits activity, like falconry or duck herding
